I was working with a detuned nylon string guitar, tuning the low E string all the way down to C and the A down to G. Hitting both with my thumb in a driving rhythm gave a kind of industrial sound. It felt like a new way of playing guitar for me and resulted in a a more edgy sound. What’s the song about? Disorientation. Dream vs reality. The hallucinatory confusion of longing. Meditation. Asking for help. Changing the focus.
