about
A rare (for me) piano song, this one emerged piecemeal in between guitar lessons at school. I’d go and sit at the piano and play these three chords. Eventually some words came out - themes that run through the whole EP: bodies of water, reminiscence, phantom conversations, angst, separation, nature, resolve, change, equanimity. It's a long song but hang in there for what Robin Peters at Culture Recordings calls the ‘Hey Jude ending’ :)
lyrics
Roll over, roll over me
Like the white sea, roll over me
No losing, no winning
You and me, we’re just giving
Just giving
We handle the days alright
You got your angels and I got mine
It’s been all the seasons, all the seasons
It’s getting dark a little later again
Later again
Did you get it baby?
Did you make it baby?
Did you get out baby?
Did you make it out?
I’m going back to those islands where I’m with you
With the clear blue all around you
Going back to the islands where we tried it out
'It’s only me,' I said, 'you can let it out, let it out'
You said, 'it’s hard for me'
I’m going down to the river, I’m going down to the trees
I’m going down to wherever I can find me
We know all of the reasons, all of the reasons
We ran out of ways to be free
So did you get it baby?
Did you make it baby?
Did you get out baby?
Did you make it out?
We won’t fall apart again love
We’re on the holy road to nowhere
We’re on the holy road to nowhere
We won’t fall apart, we won’t fall apart

The latest LP from Brigid Mae Power is gorgeous and ghostly, setting Power’s voice against soft brushes of guitar, piano, & shuffling drums. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 17, 2018
